Site & Planning Context
Broadwater Farm is located north of Kings Hill in a highly sustainable location close to Kings Hill centre and within walking distance of West Malling railway station which has good services to London Victoria, Ashford International, Maidstone East, Bromley South and Canterbury West. The A228 and junction 4 of the M20, 3 miles to the north of the site gives access to the wider road network.
The site is a proposed allocation (LP30) https://www.tmbc.gov.uk/services/planning-and-development/planning/planning-local-plans in the emerging Tonbridge and Malling Local Plan, which is the development plan for the area that has been prepared by the Council. For Broadwater Farm, the Local Plan proposes approximately 900 new homes, a 2 form entry primary school, 6 form entry secondary school, healthcare provision, infrastructure and public open space. The submitted planning application fully complies with the allocation policy for this site. The approval of this application will positively contribute towards the Council meeting their 5 year housing land supply target and will deliver significant wider public benefits that would not otherwise be deliverable to meet the needs of the local community.
