Biodiversity

Berkeley is committed to creating a net biodiversity gain on all new developments. Put simply, this means there will be more nature after we finished than before we began.

To achieve this we will use our Nine Concepts approach and work in partnership with ecologists, landscape architects and local Wildlife Trusts to integrate biodiversity into every development. For example at Broadwater Farm we will provide a range of natural features to support wildlife . This will include the protection, creation and enhancement of habitats for protected and rare species as well as features such as ponds, log piles, additional roosting and nesting areas for bats and birds and planting additional native trees and shrubs.

This approach will enable us to deliver a measurable increase in biodiversity at Broadwater Farm, creating a beautiful environment where local people can enjoy the outdoors and experience all the benefits that comes with interacting with nature.
